…CELCO, Rancho Cucamonga , CA , the leader in digital film recording
systems, announced that Fotokem has purchased CELCO’s FURY film
recorder.
FotoKem is a large,
independently owned film & video post-production facility based in
Burbank , CA , which has been operating for over 38 years. FotoKem is a
full service motion picture and video post-production facility, which
offers 35mm and 16mm film processing, custom processing, answer prints,
digital intermediates, preservation and restoration, telecine, editing,
duplication, scanning and recording, restoration of film and video
elements, and Hi-Def transfers. FotoKem also offers tape to film transfer,
audio services, including restoration, and DVD pre-mastering. Since 1963,
FotoKem has provided outstanding color and black & white laboratory
services for filmmakers.
David Rosenthal, I/O
supervisor of digital film services at FotoKem, said, “We have used
CELCO film recorders for a while now, and the FURY's speed and quality
allow us to keep up with the high demands of today's digital imaging. The
Fury is ridiculously fast, and the sharpness of the output is quite
amazing.” He continues, “One day after it arrived, we shot a job on
intermediate film and the client loved it”. In addition to the quality
and speed of the Fury, Mr. Rosenthal said another major reason for
investing in the FURY was CELCO’s renowned customer service and
willingness to go the extra mile.
The FURY, CELCO’s
latest advance in digital film recording technology, will output a
high-resolution frame of film in one second. Facilities such as FotoKem
will be able to output approximately 60 minutes of high-resolution digital
film per day. The FURY’s one-second speed includes high definition
images onto Kodak 5245 camera negative stock, and less than 2 seconds per
frame for a full Cineon density range 2K image onto Kodak intermediate
2242 film stock. The system is also capable of very high-speed output of
any resolution up to 4K or higher for larger format purposes such as 70mm.
The FURY can output any type of film stock, including color and black and
white intermediate and camera negative stocks. In addition, the new system
can also output to multiple film formats including 16mm, 35mm, and 65mm 5,
8, 10, and 15-perf (IMAX format).
John Constantine,
Director of Marketing, comments, “"We are pleased that FotoKem, a
leading filmmakers' choice for lab and film post production services, has
chosen the new CELCO FURY Digital Film Recorder in their pursuit of the
highest quality tools for their current and future digital film
demands.".
About CELCO:
CELCO was founded in
1950 by John M. Constantine Sr. as an engineering laboratory dedicated to
high resolution display technology. CELCO’s innovations in the field of
electron beam control soon made the company a leading producer of electron
optics including deflection yokes and focus coils used in high resolution
display systems. Its display components have been used for an abundance of
military and civilian applications in everything from fighter jets, flight
simulators, medical imaging systems, electron beam welders, to the space
shuttle. CELCO also became known for its lab standard test equipment
including high performance deflection amplifiers and precision display
systems. The technologies evolved into the production of complete digital
imaging systems starting in the 1970s with large format satellite imaging
systems to the first motion picture digital film recorder used for
Disney’s TRON in the early 1980s.
Clients have
included FotoKem, Post Logic, CapitalFX, Disney Feature Animation, PIXAR,
Industrial Light & Magic, Warner Bros. Feature Animation, Tippett
